Their practice can be described as intentional and joyful, referencing everyday mass-produced recognizable objects. Drawing inspiration from the stories people's possessions tell. The red iron-rich clay Seversky uses references to their childhood in rural North Carolina as well as traditional Mexican clay vessels. Seversky uses trinkets, sentimental objects, and branded objects in their work. Which serve many purposes, such as intimate visuals along with sensory contrast. Primarily, they create space for both a sense of play and childhood exploration. Seversky’s work asks the viewer to reflect and confront their own joys and hardships as not independent from each other, as a shared convoluted space physically and emotionally.
